Philosophy Dialogue Series

Professor and students talking in Philosophy Dialogue Room

The Philosophy Dialogue Series is a unique program of lectures, interactive presentations, and discussions — as many as 60 presentations each semester.

For over 20 years, the series has provided a forum for the lively exchange and critical evaluation of diverse ideas. The Philosophy Dialogue Series has grown from a few presentations per month during long semesters to four or five each week during most of the fall and spring semesters, as well as during one summer session.

Faculty and student presenters come from all 10 colleges on campus, and the Department of Philosophy recruits nationally recognized scholars to participate each semester. The series supplements students' instruction, as it allows them to apply their classroom study of the principles of good thinking and ethical conduct to controversial issues. Everyone is welcome to attend, and organizers encourage informal dialogues among faculty, students, and visitors.
